Retirement Housing Foundation Aquires UCC-Related Senior Housing Community Near Chicago’s Southside

UCC-related Retirement Housing Foundation has assumed ownership of an affordable housing property built by Immanuel United Church of Christ in Evergreen Park, Ill., near the south side of Chicago.

Immanuel Residences for the Elderly, which sits across the street from Immanuel UCC, was one of the first buildings to be constructed through the HUD 202 program, which provides capital advances and operating subsidies to facilitate the creation of multi-family housing for very low-income elderly persons.

The 24 unit, older adult community has studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with features that include a full kitchen and safety features in the bathroom. The building amenities include a controlled entry access system, outdoor patio and garden area, on-site parking, and storage lockers for the residents’ use.

Immanuel Residents is in close proximity to public transportation, two major hospitals, numerous grocery and drug stores, and retail shopping.

RHF is grateful to Immanuel UCC for entrusting their housing ministry to them, a vision that began more than 56 years ago.

The new relationship will be celebrated at a worship service at 10 am on January 22, 2017, at Immanuel UCC (9815 Campbell Avenue, Evergreen Park) followed by a luncheon.
