UCC-related Bethany Children’s Home Names Birli Chief Executive Officer

Joseph T. Birli

Joseph T. Birli, Ed.D., LPC, NCC, has been named chief executive officer of UCC-related Bethany Children’s Home in Womelsdorf, Pa., following the retirement of Kevin Snyder, who served as Bethany’s CEO for six years.

Birli previously served as president and CEO of the Children’s Home of York, Pa. Prior to his time in York, Birli served as director of operations at Friendship Community in Lititz, Pa., and director of clinical services at Brian’s House in Exton, Pa. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Alvernia University in Reading, Pa., since 2014, teaching courses in the graduate counseling department.

“My philosophy coincides with Bethany’s mission,” Birli said, adding that it is important to him to contribute to the healing journey of individuals served by the organization.

Birli’s Ed.D. degree is in innovation and leadership. He holds an M.S. degree in counseling and a bachelor’s degree in social work. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor, and is currently working on a Ph.D. in counseling education and supervision.

Bethany is an open and affirming organization, which is something Birli said he strongly believes in. “I have worked with adults and youth who have been rejected for who they are,” he said. “Everyone deserves to go through healing.”

Birli added that he sees opportunity for growth within the organization, and is excited to be part of the Bethany legacy of care.

The mission of Bethany Children’s Home is to continue an open and affirming Christian ministry, begun in 1863, to serve children and families within our care. We strive to provide a safe place of nurture, protection, and supportive care to aid our residents in their self-understanding, growth, and healing toward a brighter, healthier future.
