Retirement Housing Foundation Celebrates Rededication of Two Older Adult Communities

The rededication included a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF), based in Long Beach, Calif., recently gathered community leaders, development partners, and residents together to celebrate the rededication of two RHF senior housing communities — Marple Manor and Ralston Tower, both in Modesto, Calif. The two communities just finished renovations amounting to $37 million, reflecting RHF’s commitment to keeping these communities affordable for the next 55 years.

Marple Manor, which has 145 spacious apartments, underwent significant improvements, including upgrades to unit interiors, infrastructure, landscaping, and lighting. Ralston Tower, which has 178 one-bedroom and studio apartments, made upgrades to its lobby, community room, TV and game rooms, and unit interiors.

The average ages for residents at Marple Manor and Ralston Tower are 75 and 80, respectively. Residents in both communities pay 30 percent of their adjusted income in rent.

“Our goal is to acquire existing affordable housing communities and renovate them to ensure they remain affordable for the elderly and persons with disabilities in the future,” said RHF President and CEO Stuart Hartman.

Improving residents’ quality of life is a priority for RHF. During the rededication, longtime resident Mae LeRoy spoke about her experience living at Marple Manor.

“It’s a great place to live on the income that we get,” said LeRoy. “I love the people that work here — they’re the best. I love just it here.”
