The Great Allentown, Pa., Fair is a cherished tradition for the city, bringing in hundreds of visitors from across the region every year. Naturally, with Phoebe Allentown just a skip and a hop from the Allentown Fairgrounds, it has also become tradition for residents to join in on the fun.

After being safely transported to the fairgrounds by Phoebe staff, residents enjoyed a free afternoon of the fair’s sights, sounds, and delights. The group convened in shaded seating areas to enjoy classic fair foods such as hot dogs, cheesesteaks, funnel cake, lemonade, and more.

While enjoying their food, residents were greeted by “Moodonna,” the fair’s fun-loving cow mascot. Moodonna made friends with some of the residents, posing for pictures and handing out hugs and high-fives.

Then, residents took a lap around the fairgrounds to admire the various vendors and local artists on display. One group stopped to watch a “Fleece to Shawl Demonstration,” which featured a group of women showcasing the process of making a shawl from scratch with old-fashioned tools and machinery.

In what may have been the highlight of the day, residents also traveled through rows upon rows of cows, goats, pigs, and more from local farms. They stopped to pet the graceful creatures, admiring their size, soft fur, and friendly demeanor.

With perfect weather, furry friends, and great food, this year’s Phoebe at the Fair proved to be another huge success. The day also proved to be another excellent activity that helps Phoebe Allentown residents get out into the local community.
