Orion Family Services Receives Grant from Green Bay Packers Foundation

Orion Family Services, based in Madison, Wis., has been awarded a $4,500 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation as part of the Foundation’s annual grant cycle. The grant will be used to support the agency’s community-based mental health and family support services work throughout southern Wisconsin.

“It was a competitive process, especially this year, as I learned in my interview [for the grant] that they received the largest number of applications in the history of the foundation,” said Stacey Parke, executive director and CEO of Orion. “This was our first effort to apply for funding with them. I believe our application was strengthened by the fact that our service area is broad, covering 14 counties across southern Wisconsin.”

Parke said the funds will be used to support Orion Family Services’ community-based programs serving children and families in home therapy and skills development services, school-based mental health, safety, and parent support services.

Orion is one of 402 nonprofit organizations throughout Wisconsin that received a grant through this year’s annual grant cycle, which awarded more than $1.6 million to charitable and civic groups statewide. This year, the Foundation focused on awarding grants to organizations that will use the funds for programs or projects that address human services, homelessness, and animal welfare.

The Green Bay Packers Foundation issues grants each year to nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Wisconsin, awarding grants in a four-year cycle. It has distributed more than $33 million for charitable purposes since it was established in 1986.
