Emmaus Homes’ Delaney Named to Inaugural ANCOR DSP Ambassador Program

Sabrina Delaney (standing, second from left) with Emmaus representatives brought their concerns to state legislators.

Advocacy is central to St. Charles, Mo.-based Emmaus Homes’ mission, and Direct Service Provider (DSP) Sabrina Delaney is helping lead that work both locally and nationally.

Delaney was selected as an inaugural member of the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) DSP Ambassador Program, a national initiative designed to equip direct support professionals with the skills to advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and strengthen the DSP workforce.

In February 2026, Delaney participated in Missouri Disability Legislative Rights Day at the State Capitol, where she helped individuals supported by Emmaus Homes share their stories directly with state legislators. For some, it was their first time visiting the Capitol and participating in the advocacy process.

Recently, Delaney penned an article for ANCOR, “There is no substitute for advocacy.” In it, she described how powerful it was to watch people confidently speak about the services that support their independence and quality of life. She emphasized that advocacy is most meaningful when individuals are empowered to use their own voices.

Delaney’s experience reflects what takes place every day at Emmaus: advocacy happens not just in legislative meetings, but wherever people are supported to live, work, and thrive in their communities.
