EdenHill Communities Celebrate 115 Years of Care, Community, and Connection

EdenHill Communities in New Braunfels, Texas, proudly marks a monumental milestone in 2025: 115 years of serving residents with compassion, dedication, and innovation. Since its founding in 1910, EdenHill has evolved from a humble home for 20 residents into a vibrant, multifaceted community. Yet its mission of providing exceptional care in a welcoming environment remains steadfast.

A Legacy Rooted in Care

EdenHill Communities traces its origins to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schmidt, whose vision of care and compassion led to the establishment of the “Old Folks and Pastor’s Home” in San Antonio. The home offered sanctuary to 20 residents, laying the foundation for the EdenHill of today. Over the decades, the community transformed, growing alongside the needs of its aging population while remaining true to the values that started it all.

Growing and Evolving

In 1954, EdenHill relocated to New Braunfels, where it built its first retirement cottage. Over the years EdenHill has expanded into a comprehensive campus offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation services, and skilled nursing. Its commitment to providing state-of-the-art care was further demonstrated in 2015 with the opening of a new healthcare center, designed to meet the diverse needs of its residents. Additional service lines were expanded with the introduction of EdenCare in 2020 and EdenHospice in 2022, extending the continuum of care beyond the campus. In 2024, EdenHill undertook a thorough renovation of its Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods, adding more rooms, and updating the neighborhoods. Whether it’s vibrant apartments, cozy cottages, or specialized care services, EdenHill continues to redefine what it means to age gracefully and with dignity.
