Consecra Housing Network Adding Four New Communities in Rockford, Ill., Area

Consecra Housing Network, based in Oak Brook, Ill., has added four new residential communities to its affordable housing portfolio, effective December 1.

All four of the communities, totaling 233 units and located within the Rockford, Ill., area, are designed to serve persons at least 62 years old and older. Ownership of the communities was transferred to Consecra from Rockford (Ill.) First Church, which no longer felt that offering housing was central to its core mission.

Executive Vice President Susan A. Sinderson said Consecra, a United Church of Christ-related ministry, is excited to have this opportunity to expand its mission into the Rockford area.

“This is an area of service that we had targeted to grow our mission due to the demonstrated affordable housing need in the area as well as the availability of community partners to work with us in offering supportive services to our residents,” Sinderson said.

The communities are Greencastle of Mulford, Greencastle of Allerton, Greencastle of Loves Park, and Greencastle of Bienterra.

“Along with the acquisition of the four beautifully maintained physical buildings, we have been truly blessed to welcome 22 new employees to our organization who had been working in the communities for the previous owner and are well respected and loved by the residents,” Sinderson said.  “The employees share our commitment to servant leadership and creating living environments where people can actively age in an affordable welcoming place they can call ‘home.’”

CHHSM-member Consecra — which is in the process of changing its name to Embrace Living Communities in January — provides quality, affordable and secure housing for over 3.000 people, with communities located in Illinois, Florida and Missouri.
