Client’s Musical Dream Comes True Thanks to EveryAge’s Elderhaus PACE Team

Amanda and daughter Carissa at the concert.

There’s something unforgettable about live music—the energy of the crowd, the flash of stage lights, and the deep, pulsing rhythm you can feel in your chest. For Amanda Blake, those moments were once a regular part of life. A devoted rock & roll fan, she spent years enjoying concerts and soaking in every beat.

But in recent years, attending live performances became increasingly difficult. Using a wheelchair made those experiences harder to access, and something Blake loved so much began to feel out of reach.

When she shared how much she missed the thrill of live music, the team at Elderhaus PACE in Wilmington, N.C.—part of EveryAge in Newton, N.C.—knew they wanted to do something special. Through the Grant A Dream™ program, they set out to bring the concert experience back to Blake—and create a day she would never forget.

Getting Ready for a Special Night

Blake’s dream day began with a meaningful and personal touch: time spent with her daughter, Carissa. The two started their afternoon at Aura Beauty, where Blake was treated to a styling session that left her feeling confident, refreshed, and excited for the night ahead.

From there, they headed to the Hampton Inn Downtown Wilmington, where they were able to relax, get ready together, and simply enjoy each other’s company. For Carissa, who lives in Maryland, this time together was especially meaningful—a chance to slow down, connect, and share in something truly special.

A Night to Remember

The evening began with dinner at El Cazador in Carolina Beach, where the two women shared laughter, conversation, and a delicious meal. But the excitement was just beginning. Soon, it was time for the main event: a David Lee Roth concert at the Wilson Center.

As the music filled the room and the crowd came alive, Blake experienced something she had been missing for far too long. The lights, the sound, the energy—it all came rushing back. For that night, she wasn’t thinking about limitations. She was simply immersed in the music she loves.

After the concert, the celebration continued with a cozy girls’ night back at the hotel. Mother and daughter had time to reflect, laugh, and savor every moment of a day that neither of them would ever forget.

A Daughter’s Gratitude

For Carissa, the experience meant more than just a fun night out. Living in another state, she shared how much peace of mind she feels knowing her mother is cared for by the compassionate team at Elderhaus PACE. She expressed deep gratitude—not only for the unforgettable experience, but for the ongoing support and dedication that surrounds her mother every day.

The following morning, Amanda Blake shared just how meaningful the experience had been. She said she hadn’t had this much fun since her daughter—now nearly 25 years old—was born.

Moments like these are exactly what the Grant A Dream™ program is all about: creating joy, restoring meaningful experiences, and reminding individuals that their passions and dreams still matter.
