Carolina SeniorCare-Lexington Hires Executive Director

Anita Prendergast

Carolina SeniorCare-Lexington and its parent organization, EveryAge—based in Newton, N.C.—are proud to announce the hiring of Anita Prendergast, PT, MHA, as CSC-Lexington’s new executive director.

Carolina SeniorCare is a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). Carolina SeniorCare provides comprehensive health care designed to address the desires of seniors who wish to remain in their community while receiving needed medical and supportive services. PACE offers a continuum of care to seniors with chronic care needs while encouraging independence in their own homes for as long as possible.

As the new executive director, Prendergast will oversee operations and administration of Carolina SeniorCare-Lexington, as well as ensure its growth and maintain its State and Federal relationships. She will manage all aspects of its primary care clinic, provider network, 24-hour care delivery system, therapeutic services, day health center, home care, transportation, and quality assurance activities.

Prendergast, a Lexington resident, earned her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University and her master’s in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University. She brings to the organization more than 20 years of leadership experience in acute therapies and rehabilitation services. Her work experience includes serving as corporate senior director at Novant Health Rehabilitation Services, where she managed and developed the rehabilitation service line for a 15-hospital system, and serving as chief executive officer for Novant Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a 68-bed inpatient facility, from which she retired in 2023.

Prendergast’s successes include achieving operational efficiencies while balancing clinical best practices and service line growth, establishing a growth-focused staffing model that resulted in seven new outpatient facilities and four expansions, and obtaining deficiency-free, triannual Joint Commission survey results. She received two Presidential Circle awards from Encompass Health for high scores on key metrics, and she served on the executive leadership team of the American Heart Association Triad Heart Ball from 2020-2023, chairing the event in her final year.

“With her operations acumen, regulatory knowledge, and philosophy of patient-centered care, Anita is a great fit to lead our PACE organization,” said Thomas Chang, EveryAge’s senior director of home and community-based services. “Her broad knowledge of the Triad’s healthcare providers, partners, and environment is a welcome asset and will prove invaluable for expanding our participants’ access to supportive care, allowing them to remain in their own homes with their families. She’s also skilled at merging big-picture oversight and the details of daily care, a comprehensive approach to leadership that will offer immeasurable benefits to the seniors and families we support in our service area: Davidson, Davie, Iredell, and Rowan counties.”
