Bethany Children’s Home Welcomes New Chaplain

Bethany Children’s Home officially called and received the Rev. Kim Kendrick as chaplain on Dec. 4, 2015.

Kendrick is ordained in the United Church of Christ, and is a 2014 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary. She brings seven years of ministerial experience to Bethany, where she will provide worship and other services for youth and staff.

Kendrick joined Bethany as a supply minister in the spring of 2015, and has since then provided weekly worship services for the campus.

“I am blessed to be the chaplain at Bethany because at Bethany I am engaged in holistic ministry,” Kendrick says. “Our work impacts every aspect of our young people’s lives. I am honored to help youth address spiritual matters while also walking with them as they navigate family and peer relationships, the academic process, and vocational discernment. I experience my own transformation as I witness the growth of our youth and other staff.”

Kevin Snyder, CEO, said, “Pastor Kim’s experience working with inner-city youth, and her connections in the community have already made her a key addition to the Bethany family. We view her appointment as a sign of our commitment to providing our youth with the very best in spiritual services and opportunities. The changing needs of our youth and staff led us to look for an addition to our team who would fit in with our ethos of innovation and exceptional service, and it is very fortunate that we were able to find someone of Kim’s caliber to fulfill this role. I’m confident that Pastor Kim will play a key role in providing and implementing exceptional spiritual services for our campus.”
