Back Bay Mission Receives Grant to Help Women and Families on Gulf Coast

Back Bay Mission’s (BBM) Health & Wellness Program was honored to receive a generous $20,000 grant from the GivHer Circle, an initiative of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Foundation (MGCCF)!

This funding will touch women and families on the Gulf Coast who need feminine care, diapers and formula, children’s educational supplies, and much more.

After learning BBM had been named one of the five finalists, its development and health & wellness teams came together to craft a heartfelt presentation for GivHer Circle members—sharing real stories and needs of women visiting Back Bay Mission.

“We were jumping up and down when we heard the news of being finalists,” said Taylor New, marketing & development coordinator. “But we were also panicking because we had 24 hours to create a presentation we’d give to an audience!”

 “Because we recognized the importance of this grant, the development team paused our work to give this presentation, and the Health and Wellness Program, everything we had,” she added.

Following presentations from each finalist, members cast their votes, and Back Bay Mission was awarded the grant. The announcement was made during MGCCF’s Donor Appreciation Breakfast Oct. 10, 2025, where members from Back Bay Mission proudly accepted the award.

The grant has already begun supporting BBM’s Health & Wellness Program, helping unsheltered and impoverished women access life-saving reproductive items, sexual wellness kits, and hygiene supplies. These essentials restore personal dignity and promote self-care in the darkest of moments. It also provided diapers and formula for mothers in need, easing the heavy burdens so many women carry.

Back Bay Mission is proud to provide women the opportunity to have their essential needs met, so they can take one more step towards stability.
