Attendees Make a Splash at Isaiah 58 Ministries’ Fourth Annual Juneteenth Celebration

On Saturday, June 21, Isaiah 58 Ministries in St. Louis hosted its fourth annual Juneteenth celebration that brought together neighbors, volunteers, families, and friends for an unforgettable day of joy, reflection, and community—despite the searing heat.
The day was filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and conversation as guests enjoyed great food and fellowship. Plates were piled high with cookout favorites including pulled pork and shredded chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. Folks gathered under the shade to share stories, reconnect, and build new bonds.
A highlight of this very hot day was the 17-foot-tall water slide, which provided the perfect way to beat the summer heat—kids (and a few brave adults!) lined up for their turn to cool off with a splash. A bouncy house was also a big hit, keeping the little ones moving and laughing all day long.
The fun didn’t stop there—Ministry Associate Zari Black got everyone up and moving with a high-energy line dancing session. Whether you were a seasoned stepper or a first timer, the joy was contagious as the people shuffled, swayed, and laughed together, learning new moves and celebrating in rhythm.

We were also honored to be joined by the talented young adults of the Saint Louis StoryStitchers, who brought powerful spoken word, music, and storytelling to the stage. Their performance added a meaningful layer to the day, honoring the legacy of Juneteenth while calling attention to the continued work of justice and equity in our world.
This celebration was a beautiful reminder of the strength and spirit of our local community. Juneteenth is a time to remember the struggles and celebrate the resilience of Black Americans—and it’s also a time to come together, dream boldly, and commit again to building a future rooted in freedom, dignity, and joy for all. Here’s to liberation, laughter, and love—on Juneteenth and every day.
