Jamar Doyle

President & Chief Executive Officer

Jamar Doyle began his service as President and CEO of the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries in March 2022.  Prior to joining CHHSM, Jamar served as Executive Director of the Greater Collinwood Development Corporation in Cleveland Ohio, one of the city’s largest community development organizations, charged with fostering equitable and inclusive economic development and community engagement in the Collinwood area of Cleveland.

Prior to working in Collinwood, Jamar worked for 10 years at the St. Clair Superior Development Corporation in roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as the organization’s Assistant Director. Continue reading »

Matt Bishop

Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Matt Bishop joined the CHHSM team in December 2025, following nearly a decade of experience in the public policy sector. He previously served the Colorado General Assembly's nonpartisan staff as a fiscal and capital analyst. His work supported state budget decisions worth hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Prior to that, he served the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in a variety of functions and settings, including its international development team and its Young Adults in Global Mission program.

Originally from the Cleveland area and a lifelong Lutheran, Matt holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a bachelor's degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Rev. Elyse Berry, DMin

Associate for Advocacy and Leadership Development

Rev. Elyse Berry, DMin joined the CHHSM team in September 2019 as the Associate for Advocacy & Leadership Development. Elyse brings to this position nearly a decade of experience working in healthcare and a passion for social justice and spiritual development. Most recently she was a postdoctoral fellow in bioethics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, which involved work in academics, a hospital rotation as an ethicist, and training as part of the Cleveland Fellowship of Advanced Bioethics, one of the most established clinical ethics training programs in the country. Prior to this fellowship, Elyse was a board certified hospital chaplain for over seven years, mostly at the Cleveland Clinic, and holds certifications in a variety of holistic care modalities. She was also a youth minister in rural Alaska during a year of service in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps before entering seminary.

She holds a Doctor of Ministry in Spirituality from the Fordham University Graduate School of Religion, a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University, a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from John Carroll University.

Elyse is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and serves as an elder in her congregation. She is married to Rev. Mark Berry, the administrative staff chaplain at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Zaria Davis

Associate for Membership and Engagement

Rev. Dr. Zaria Davis is a current Master of Divinity student at Eden Theology Seminary with an extensive background in non-profit consulting, therapy, coaching, social work, and advocacy. She is passionate about communal transformation and healing, particularly for those serving on the frontlines of health and human services. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Wilberforce University, a Masters of Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, and a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University.

Zaria Davis

Cynthia McKenzie

Associate for Business Operations

Cynthia McKenzie joined the CHHSM team in November 2025 as associate for business operations. Cynthia has more than 20 years of experience in community development, particularly in nonprofit leadership and business and community engagement. Previously, she served as assistant director of a community development corporation, working closely with local businesses in Cleveland’s Collinwood community. Prior to that, she spent 14 years supporting community-based initiatives in the St. Clair–Superior neighborhood of Cleveland. She currently serves on the board of the Northern Ohio Recovery Association.

Cynthia attended Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio, and Portland (Ore.) Community College. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, she relocated to Cleveland nearly 39 years ago and remains deeply committed to the city and the community.
