Gruhala brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across hospice, senior living, skilled nursing, and the broader post‑acute care continuum, with a proven record of driving operational excellence, cultural alignment, and mission‑centered growth.
“Ryan is a mission‑driven leader with the operational expertise and relational leadership style that aligns perfectly with the future of Emmaus Homes,” said Ann Ficken, chair of the Emmaus Homes board of directors. “His record of transforming organizations while honoring their core values makes him the ideal leader to guide Emmaus into its next chapter.”

He began his career as a licensed nursing home administrator, gaining frontline experience that continues to shape his practical, people‑centered leadership style.
Cindy Clark, who has served as president and CEO since 2009, expressed strong confidence in Gruhala’s leadership and the future of Emmaus Homes.
“It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to serve the Emmaus community, and I am deeply proud of the work our teams do every day to support the individuals we serve,” said Clark. “Ryan brings the right blend of heart, operational strength, and mission alignment to lead Emmaus forward. I am confident he will honor our legacy while guiding the organization into an even stronger future.”
Gruhala commented on the meaningful mission and legacy of Emmaus Homes. “I am honored to join Emmaus Homes and deeply inspired by its mission and legacy of service,” he said. “Emmaus has a long history of empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to live with independence, dignity, and purpose. I look forward to partnering with our teams, families, and communities to strengthen our impact and ensure we continue delivering exceptional, person‑centered care for years to come.”
