Development Director: Back Bay Mission

Back Bay Mission is looking for a Development Director. Back Bay Mission is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Miss. This is an exciting time for the Back Bay Mission as we celebrate 101 years of service to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We serve those who are homeless, living in poverty, and those who volunteer with us seeking to help make systemic change. We are a nationally recognized faith-based non-profit that has always been agile and willing to address the most critical needs of underserved populations.

Role: The Development Director is responsible for a broad range of communications with Back Bay Mission (BBM) constituencies. Primary emphasis’ will be placed on developing a strong network of support on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and with supporters across the country from the United Church of Christ and other engaged donors. The position is also responsible for information management of electronic donor files. This is a creative position that will facilitate fundraising events and grant writing.

Salary Range: This full-time position is salaried and includes fully covered health insurance, a generous pension, and paid time off.

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, marketing, or similar field is preferred. Previous employment in fundraising or public relations, particularly in the not-for-profit world, is also a plus.

Candidate Profile: The Development Director needs a genuine concern for the unsheltered and those living in poverty. The Director of Development, along with other BBM staff, must be a strong advocate and voice for the unsheltered in our coastal communities and our national donor base. The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate must be able to build rapport with diverse donors and key stake holders in the community.

We are seeking a candidate with high level administrative skills who can manage time and priorities effectively. This individual must have a consistent attentiveness to details and timely follow-through on tasks. Timelines are important.

This candidate must have a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently and supervise the Development Associate. This individual will be a part of the BBM Lead Team and needs to be able to work together collaboratively with the Lead Team and the entire staff of BBM.
