The Context: Jesus encounters a scene where there are people who have all kinds of infirmities and they are waiting for the precise moment to immerse themselves in the waters of the pool at Bethsaida to be healed. One person who was there had been waiting for many years for that special moment. It had come and gone apparently many times.
