Cedar Community in West Bend, Wis., has named the Rev. Kathryn Kuhn its new director of ministries. Kuhn succeeds the Rev. Susan Kolb, who passed away in December from cancer.

After months of planning on the part of the CHHSM staff, board and the 75th anniversary committee, CHHSM’s 75th birthday celebration is over. To be honest, I had been looking forward to the conclusion of this event. It seemed that I had very few moments when the details of our 75th anniversary gathering were not dominating my thoughts. I wanted to get it behind me.

As ministries gathered in Chicago Feb. 28-March 3 for CHHSM’s 75th Anniversary Annual Meeting, they were reminded of how far the movement has come — and the work that lies ahead. Staying true to the meeting’s theme, “CHHSM at 75: The Promise of Our Passion-Driven Movement,” attendees took time during the meeting to celebrate and support the leaders of CHHSM’s past, present and future.

David and Veronda Durden contributed $25,171 to their church a few years ago, taking the itemized tax deduction. The IRS challenged their deduction on a technicality, and the Tax Court sided with the IRS in 2012.
