In my final meeting as CHHSM president with the board of directors, I shared a quote from my 1991 application cover letter to the CHHSM president and CEO search committee. It said “organizations like CHHSM are perpetually fragile because their fundamental mission is to pursue meaning, thus the product of their work will never have measurable market value.”

Advocate Health Care Hospitals Earn High Marks for Patient Safety »

Seven Advocate Health Care hospitals are being recognized for excellence in patient safety by the Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C.- based independent industry watchdog organization. Leapfrog uses publicly available data on 28 different evidence-based safety measures and assigns letter grades from A to F based on each hospital’s success in preventing harm to patients.

Deaconess Awards $500,000 to Local Children's Hospitals »

Deaconess Foundation, as part of its 125th Anniversary, awarded special multi-year grants totaling $500,000 to SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital to fund the purchase of kidney dialysis equipment and allow for greater access to care for children.
