Illinois-based CHHSM ministry Advocate Health Care is being recognized for its integration of spiritual and physical healing. Jim Skogsbergh, Advocate's president and CEO, has been awarded the 2012 Gutenberg Award by the Chicago Bible Society.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of CHHSM Vice President Bill Johnson’s ordination to the Christian ministry by the United Church of Christ. Bill was the first openly homosexual person to be ordained by a Christian denomination. Recently I was honored to participate in a celebration of the anniversary at Bill’s home congregation, Liberation UCC in Cleveland. I want to share some excerpts from my remarks at this event with the CHHSM community.

Bob Baur comes from a long line of missionaries and pastors. His grandfather was a professor at Eden Seminary in St. Louis from 1903 to 1936. Out of his grandfather’s 10 children – six girls and four boys — all but one were connected to the ministry.
