For the past two years, CHHSM has been living into a new way of leading that we call “Following the Energy." This is the practice of drawing out and naming the mysterious, eternal, meaning-making innovation that is the potential of every person, and connecting people in working communities that innovate exponentially.

Reflections on the First Day of Winter »

It is Dec. 21, the first day of winter.  Yesterday, the last day of autumn, boasted a brilliant blue sky and rays of sun that make the snow sparkle. But today, winter’s cold gray is pervasive and recalls the following verse of Wendell Berry’s “Window Poems.”

I’m waiting for a flight at Washington National having spent the day at a Community Leaders Briefing for faith-based health and human-service organizations sponsored by the White House Office of Public Engagement.  And engagement there was.

I don’t know if we are entering a second dip of recession, but it feels that way when I hear the stories of financial challenge from our CHHSM ministries and as I struggle to balance CHHSM’s 2012 budget.
