As CHHSM celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, the organization is taking steps to ensure it continues to develop dynamic leadership for the future. On Sept. 1, CHHSM launched a five-year campaign to support the Legacy Fund, an initiative designed to expand CHHSM’s leadership formation mission. The goal is to raise $300,000.

In his role as CEO of Orion Family Services in Madison, Wis., Hugh Meyers heads an organization that is dedicated to serving troubled children and families. Orion operates three group homes in addition to offering a wide range of community outreach programs, such as in-home family therapy, foster care and outpatient counseling.

Earlier this year, I was asked to give a definition of servant leadership based on my experiences in Nollau for the CHHSM Diakonie newsletter. Since those words sum up well what I have learned about servant leadership over the past several months, I’m going to share them with you once again.

Catherine (Kay) Price served as executive director of CHHSM ministry United Church of Christ Homes in Pennsylvania from 1989 to 2003. She chaired the board of AAHSA, now Leading Age, from 1990 to 1992 and in that role helped launch the International Association of Homes and Services for Aging (IAHSA), whose board she chaired from 1994 to 1997. She led the CHHSM Board of Directors from March 1998 to March 2000.
