The theme of CHHSM’s 75th anniversary celebration is “CHHSM at 75: The Promise of Our Passion-Driven Movement." Our CHHSM forebears were German Evangelical pietists. For these practitioners of Diakonic Ministry, piety connoted a life committed to discerning the work of God as manifest in the signs of new creation (promise) before our eyes in the here and now, passionately participating in that work and hoping actively for the new earth where righteousness dwells.
Today, we are heirs and stewards of a Diakonic movement that dates back to the healing works of Jesus Christ. It is God’s enduring promise — a promise that proclaims a different, countercultural reality — that ignites our passion.
We do our work from a worldview that is mission – not market – motivated. We are called to a form of success that points to God’s vision of righteousness. To fulfill our stewardship of the Diakonic movement that both embodies and is always becoming the new creation, we must evangelize. We must raise up witnesses who can carry the movement forward.
I invite you to join me in bearing witness to “The Promise of Our Passion-Driven Movement” through a generous gift to the CHHSM Legacy Fund.
