Council for Health and Human Service Ministries

Model Governance Policies

CHHSM provides these model governance policies to its members as a resource for building and sustaining strong organizations that advance the work of healing and service as a ministry of the church:

  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act: The Sarbanes-Oxley Act, although primarily intended as a response to the corporate and accounting scandals, has implications for nonprofit organizations. For information pertaining to its affect on nonprofit organizations, see the "related items" section, right.
  • Record Retention and Document Destruction Policy (PDF, 99K, based on National Center for Nonprofit Associations policy)
  • Whistleblower Protection Policy (PDF, 57K)

If your ministry has developed model governance policies that you would like to share with fellow CHHSM members, please call or email Vice President for Member Relations William R. Johnson at 216-736-2256 or johnsonw@chhsm.org.
