UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors

The UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors (UCC/PCC) are an organized voice for chaplains and counselors in ministries of the United Church of Christ. UCC/PCC members seek to support one another in Christ's ministry and meet yearly at the Association of Professional Chaplains Annual Meeting.

The UCC/PCC is supported by CHHSM and its members are listed in CHHSM's yearly directory. CHHSM's annual meeting offers a variety of educational opportunities for chaplains and counselors and at its awards dinner, the UCC/PCC presents The Rev. Julius Varwig Award to a person who has demonstrated dedication and commitment to serve persons in the name of Jesus Christ and in the spirit exemplified by the first full-time Protestant chaplain in the United States. More information on the award is available here. (Link will open a new browser window.)

The UCC/PCC is designated as a recognized group by the General Synod and has two delegates with voice but not vote at General Synod meetings. The current president of UCC/PCC is Martha Jacobs (email). The organization publishes a quarterly newsletter; to receive copies, please email Lorraine Cogan or call her at 216-736-2250.
