UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors

Julius Varwig award

The UCC Professional Chaplains and Counselors (UCC/PCC) is an organized voice for chaplains and counselors in ministries of the United Church of Christ. UCC/PCC members seek to support one another in Christ’s ministry and meet yearly at the Association of Professional Chaplains’ annual meeting.

CHHSM supports the UCC/PCC and lists its members in our yearly directory. CHHSM, along with the UCC/PCC, present the Rev. Julius Varwig Award to a person who has demonstrated dedication and commitment to serve in the name of Jesus Christ and in the spirit exemplified by the first full-time Protestant chaplain in the United States. More information on the award is available here.

The UCC/PCC is designated as a recognized group by the General Synod and has two delegates with voice but not vote at General Synod meetings. The current president of UCC/PCC is Rev. Randall Hachfeld, BCC. Learn more about the organization here.
