The Pension Boards-United Church of Christ, Inc. (PBUCC) is a not-for-profit corporation governed by its consumers. Its sole mission is to serve UCC employers. No profit margin is built into the PBUCC management fee structure for any benefit program.

All PBUCC benefit programs are operated as "Church Plans" qualifying as such under sections 414(e)(1) and 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Church Plans are exempt from a number of IRS and Department of Labor regulations governing employee benefit plans, for example exemption from the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). All CHHSM members in good standing qualify for Church Plan status.
