From the President
2007: A Year of Walking the Talk Like most of us, Moses was sometimes unsure about how to lead. "But they will not believe me or listen to my voice," he complains to God in Exodus 4: 1, certain that leading the Israelites requires something--a talent, a resource, an attitude--that he does not have. God's response, however, turns Moses' attention away from what he lacks and back to what he already has. "What is that in your hand?" God asks. With God's help, Moses' ordinary walking stick is everything he needs. At CHHSM, we believe that God is still speaking this message to us today. That's why, during 2007, we launched Walking the Talk, a consultative program that seeks to help member ministries uncover the strengths and gifts already resident in their organizations. You can read more about Walking the Talk at www.chhsm.org/leadership, or talk with Director of Consulting Services Daniel Pryfogle about how our program can help your ministry. We're also seeking to walk the talk in all of CHHSM's programs and operations, asking ourselves what resources we have already in our hands that can deliver value to our members. Midway through Filling Our Basin, CHHSM's five-year strategic initiative, leveraging our existing resources and relationships has allowed us to fulfill, and in some cases exceed, the plan's goals for our work to advance the healing and service ministry of Jesus Christ. Faithfully, Darlene Sowell
